Hi, I’m Laney.
I’ve been obsessed with genetics before I even knew what genetics were, and that was all because of Warriors, a fantasy book series about wild cats. My ten-year-old self spent hours creating genotypes for each character in the series. This obsession later led me to take Stanford University’s Genetics and Genomics courses, where I learned not only about inheritance but also about the many factors that influence gene expression, including the human microbiome. As someone who is always in the kitchen experimenting, the connection between food and our genes fascinates me.
That is why I launched Snack On That: to share science in snack-sized bites, conversations with smart people, and the very best of my kitchen experiments (because, let’s be real, they don’t always work out).
