This last week I finally got a blender and I must say that it opened me up to a whole new world, as far as food goes. The first thing that I made just happened to be smoothies and I must say that smoothies are now on the top 5 list of favorite things to eat/drink. They’re just that damn good. Prior to this last week, I had never had a smoothie so it was a shock to see how easy they are to make and how great they taste.
It only takes 5 easy steps!
- Blend fruit until liquid
- Add 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- Put in some orange juice (or your choice of juice)
- Add sugar to make things sweet
- Blend!
The first time around I made strawberry smoothies and it was relatively simple. Here’s what I used:
Strawberry Smoothies
- 1lb of fresh strawberries
- Orange juice
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of crushed ice
So that’s all that you need for a strawberry smoothie, and they’re relatively easy to make. First off cut the 1lb of strawberries in half so the blender can cut them up easier. Once you do that just throw them in there and blend till it’s all liquid.
When you’re done with that add 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and let it blend for a few seconds till the ice cream is completely mixed with the strawberries.
Then you add your fruit juice, you can use any kind of juice just keep in mind that some types of juice may overpower the flavor of the fruit that you’re putting into the smoothie. You should put enough juice in the mix to match the consistency that you would like, some people like it thick and others don’t.
After that you can add ~1cup of sugar, or as much as you think it needs to be sweetened up.
Then you’re all ready to serve!
Banana Smoothies
- 2 average sized bananas
- Orange juice
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of crushed ice
Banana smoothies are made in pretty much the exact way as the strawberry smoothies. All you have to do is follow the 5 steps above which are pretty simple.
You can go ahead and make just about any type of smoothie with these 5 steps. All you have to do is change the type of fruit, and the type of juice. But just keep in mind that it is a good idea to have plenty of juice in the mix, if you don’t things will get really thick and pasty. If it is ever too thick, even with the juice, you can also add water as it doesn’t take away from the flavor and it just makes things more smooth.
